Introduction

This  is the start page for the description of mine hikes outside Europe. Choose from the menu or scroll down.
In the last 20 years I made a few trekkings outside Europe. In these trips I carried my own luggage (Peru, Namibia, South Africa, Yemen) or mine luggage was carried by horses and/or donkeys (India, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, South Africa, Tajikistan), camels (Egypt) or porters (Pakistan, Tajikistan, Tanzania). In the under mentioned enumeration are only the links active, which are now blue (and/or underlined). Some pages behind these links are still in Dutch (but I hope to translate them in the nearby future). Shortly I also hope to make all links active.

Hiking in Bolivia

In Bolivia I have made the following trekking (hike):

• A trekking of three days along theTaquesi trail (Cordillera Real), July 2001

• A hike from Povoacao to the south coast of Boavista (and back)
• A hike of Norte to the northeastern coast of Boavista (and back)
• A circular hike  along the bottom of the Pico do Antonio (island Santiago)
• A hike from the road Praia/Cidade de Velha via Calabaceira to Cidade de velha (island Santiago)  
• A day hike from Serre through the Ribeira Principal to the northeastern coast (island Santiago)  translated in English!
• A hike from Fundura to Ribeira da Prata (island Santiago)
• A hike from Tarrafal along the coast to Campo do Concentraçao (island Santiago)

Hiking in Egypt

In Egypt I have made the following trekking (hike):

• A trekking through the Sinai (Egypt), December 1990/January 1991  new, since 10 june 2001 !

Hiking in India

I have made the following trekkings (hikes):

• A trekking from Lamayuru to Nimo (Ladakh, India), July 1989, (with pictures !)
• A trekking from Panikar across the Himalaya to Pahlgam (India), August 1989, (with pictures !)
• A trekking through the Markhavalley (Ladakh, India), July 1996 (with pictures !)
• A trip of five days through the Garhwal (Indian Himalaya), including a trek of two days (new, with pictures!)

Hiking in Indonesia

On Java I have made two dayhikes through the mountains and I climbed the vulcano Gunung Gede. I made a webpage on the climbing the Gunung Gede

Hiking in Madagascar

In Madagascar I have made the following trekking (hike):

Hiking in Turkey

In Turkey I have made a few small dayhikes in Cappadocie. Besides I made two trekkings (each of a few days) in the Taurusmountains on the Southcoast in the neighbourhood of Antalya (december 1994/january 1995). The second hike caused a military intervene on the beach. (only in Dutch). This story has been first publiced in the Dutch newsgroup NL.WANDEL (newsgroup about hiking).

Hiking in the United States

In the United States I made dayhikes and trips in a few Nationale Parks. In the following Nationale Parks/Wilderniss Areas I have some experience in hiking :

In this park I made the following hikes :

• A day hike along the Umpqua dunes trail (with pictures !)

Rocky Mountains National Park
Three Sisters Wilderniss Area

• a two days hike through Three Sisters Wilderniss Area

Wallowa Mountains

In these mountains I made two hike in July 2002
